AN RAF pilot from Kilmacolm has been honoured for saving his stricken aircraft and the student on board with him. Flight Lieutenant Jonathan Dunn, of 207 Squadron, based near York, avoided disaster by safely landing his aircraft after it suffered a catastrophic engine fuel flow failure.

Coastguard strike 'will risk lives'
GREENOCK coastguards are set to return to strike action after the latest round of pay talks with bosses broke down. Stuart Atkinson of the PCS said: "Our objective is not to put lives at risk, but that is a likely outcome.”

A SCHOOL bus blunder spoiled the first day of term for a pupil from Greenock. Lisa Anderson, 13, was looking forward to her first day back at Inverclyde Academy — but was left standing in the street when the bus drove past her.

Boy, 15, bottled in cigarette row
A THUG smashed a Budweiser beer bottle over a schoolboy’s head in a savage street assault. The sheriff court heard yesterday how the 15-year-old was hit on the back of the head with the weapon after a row over cigarettes ended in violence.
