McGuffie goal rounds off long week

ALLAN JENKINS will be the third Morton player on the operating table in as many weeks this Friday as he prepares for a minor procedure on a muscle tear. He said: “I tore an adductor muscle when we came back to training last week. I might miss one or two games, but we’ll just have to see how it goes."

Port bid to go out on a cup high
PORT Glasgow will tonight aim to end their season on a high by making it through to Saturday’s Cup-Winners Cup final. But formidable opposition stands in the Port’s way in the shape of Cumnock — one of the best-known names in junior football. The Ayrshire men come to Ravenscraig having just lost out to Bathgate Thistle in the Scottish Cup final, and qualified for the Cup-Winners Cup by virtue of a 5-0 thumping of Kilwinning Rangers in the Ayrshire Cup final.

MORTON’S pre-season schedule has been released by the club, with seven fixtures lined up to be played in July. Davie Irons’ men begin their preparation with a trip to Castle Douglas to play South of Scotland League outfit Threave Rovers on Monday 7 July, then on Saturday 12 July Ayr United come to town.
