We are sailing
Catching the wind: Boats during last year’s racing off Kip Marina.
THE Savills Kip Regatta will take place on the Firth of Clyde off Kip Marina this weekend.
For the second year, international property consultants Savills will sponsor the first major sailing event of the Scottish season.
Royal Western Yacht Club commodore Tim Henderson said: “Kip Marina and the RWYC have jointly organised the regatta for the last 18 years, so we are delighted to welcome back our prestigious title sponsor for this key event, recognised as the first of the ‘Three Majors’ of Scotland’s sailing calendar.”
Duncan Chalmers, Kip Marina General Manager, addded: “Savills is a top commercial name so we are fortunate that we have attracted the company, which will be in the second of a three year sponsorship. We currently have entries from as far afield as north-east Scotland and south-west England, together with the local boats, so an exciting event is on the cards.”
Savills’ Andrew Perratt, who heads up the company’s west of Scotland operation, believes that the event continues to be an excellent fit for Savills. He said: “The Regatta has certainly helped us raise our profile further. The company is well known overseas for its sailing sponsorships, including the Savills Short Ocean Race Championship in Australia, which is recognised as the precursor for the Sydney-Hobart race.”
