SOME-FLING SPECIAL: Expect Highland dancers and plenty colour at the weekend’s events.
THE best in Scottish traditional entertainment will be coming to Inverclyde this weekend.
Gourock Highland Games is taking place on Sunday at Gourock Park.
Visitors will be heading along in their hundreds to get a piece of the action from Scotland’s first Highland games of the year.
Chieftan of the event, Provost Michael McCormick, will welcome everyone to the park and introduce the events, which will run from noon until 6pm.
Councillor Jim Clocherty, Inverclyde’s regeneration convener, said: “Gourock Highland Games is Inverclyde’s leading annual event and is an occasion the West of Scotland can be proud of."

Car attack murder bid man jailed
A MAN has been jailed for eight years for trying to murder a pedestrian with a car. Patrick Coyle, 44, of Rankin Street, drove the vehicle on to a footpath and hit the man, the court heard.
Battered dad slams Oak Mall yobs
A GREENOCK dad has hit out at thugs who broke his jaw in two places during an attack in a busy shopping centre. Arthur Higgins was punched and kicked by four yobs during the unprovoked assault in Greenock’s Oak Mall.
MacDonald Brothers to play town hall
X-FACTOR favourites the MacDonald Brothers, are set to play Greenock as part of the Inverclyde Youth Festival 2008. Fans can see the popular brothers Brian and Craig play Greenock Town Hall on Monday 11 August.

Youth festival is 'waste of money'
A MASSIVE £30,000 festival planned for Greenock next month has been slammed as a waste of money by a youth worker. Chris McTiernan, of East End Parish Church, whose own hall was torched by yobs on Monday, says he could run a youth club for the next 10 years with two-thirds of the budget.
