A MIRACULOUS moggie crossed the Clyde in a 20-mile escapade from her Clydebank home.

Thrill-seeker Samantha used up all of her nine lives during the daring jaunt which brought her to Greenock a few days ago.

Now, four weeks later, the lucky black cat with cute white paws, has been reunited with her owner.

She was rescued after worried residents in Falcon Crescent noticed the ‘stray’ was being pestered by schoolkids.

They contacted Inverclyde Cat Rescue who told them to take Samantha to Abbey Vets.

Samantha’s owners were easily traced because she was micro-chipped. After travelling to Greenock to get his wandering pet, dad-of-two Chris Atkinson said: “It’s fantastic news.

“Samantha went missing four weeks ago and we thought she was away.

“My youngest daughter, Nicole, who is six, was very upset when she went missing. She adores Samantha.

“I was amazed when I heard she was in Greenock because I knew it was a good distance away.

“The fact we have been able to get her back so quickly is a testament to the technology of micro-chipping pets.”

Denise Symon, head nurse at Abbey Vets in Greenock, said: “This is the second case we’ve heard about in the last six months — she must have sneaked into a car.

“Her owner actually asked me where Greenock was and I told him it was the other side of the Clyde. He was over the moon he got her back.”

She added: “Samantha is in good condition, she’s obviously been fed by a lot of people over the last few days. Now she’s loving having a roof over her head. She’s just been stretching out and enjoys getting her tummy rubbed.”
