FREEMASONS from across Ayrshire, Lanarkshire and Renfrewshire recently converged on the village of Skelmorlie for a very special occasion.

The event was to celebrate the Provincial Grand Lodge of Ayrshire’s annual spring divine service held in Skelmorlie Parish Church. It was a great honour for the brethren of Lodge Montgomerie Kilwinning Skelmorlie No 624 to be asked to host the service for the first time in their 130-year history.

Thanking all who attended the evening, Right Worshipful Master Brother John Little paid tribute to the Rev William Armstrong for the support he gave the lodge over many years.

It was hoped he would enjoy a long and happy retirement.

RWM Little also thanked Provisional Grand Chaplain the Rev Ian U McDonald, organist Siona Leitch, Bro James Emslie and the Ist Largs BB Pipe Band, tea ladies Alice, Glenis and Mary, and caretaker John Houston.

Meanwhile, the lodge is holding a charity disco dance in the village community centre on Saturday, 24 May at 7.30pm.

Proceeds will go to Autistic Scotland.

Tickets costing £3 are available from the centre or by calling 01475 689491.
