A DRIVER had a lucky escape after his car crashed into a fence and plunged down an embankment in Port Glasgow.
Emergency workers rushed to the scene in Benview Road, above the Clune Brae, shortly after 3pm yesterday and the 31-year-old driver was taken to hospital with slight neck injuries. He was discharged a short time later.
Watch commander Alistair Bell, of Port Glasgow fire station, said: “The driver lost control of his vehicle, mounted the pavement and went through the fence.
“When we arrived he was lying on the grass and the ambulance service was dealing with him.
“He got a fright and he was in shock.”
Man on 9 child sex act charges
A MAN put Weetabix and spaghetti hoops down the pants of an underage girl before rubbing his naked private parts against her during a sex act, the sheriff court heard yesterday.
PM to visit Inverclyde today
PRIME Minister Gordon Brown will visit Inverclyde today to open a new primary school. Mr Brown will be at Newark Primary School in Port Glasgow to formally open the building and tour its facilities.
