A MOTORCYCLIST injured in a horror road crash is now critically ill in hospital.
The 32-year-old man is fighting for his life after the accident which happened in Gourock at around 1.10pm on Friday. He was travelling along Cloch Road, near Cardwell Garden Centre, when police believe he was struck by a car overtaking a cyclist.
The man was taken by air ambulance to Glasgow’s Southern General Hospital and is now in a critical condition.
Constable Gary McKenzie, of Greenock’s road policing department, said: “We are appealing for any witnesses to the incident, particularly the cyclist who was travelling westbound from Gourock approaching Cardwell Garden Centre, as he may have information that is vital to this inquiry.
“Anyone with information should contact Greenock’s road policing department on 492500.”
PM to visit Inverclyde today
PRIME Minister Gordon Brown will visit Inverclyde today to open a new primary school. Mr Brown will be at Newark Primary School in Port Glasgow to formally open the building and tour its facilities.
