BRAVE TOT: Sarah has been given weeks to live.

THE family of a four-year-old cancer patient who has been given just months to live are praying for a miracle.

Brave Sarah Wade has a rare form of the disease, called hepatoblastoma, and it has spread from her liver to her lungs.

She’s endured more than 15 rounds of gruelling chemotherapy, radiotherapy and numerous blood transfusions but nothing has worked.

Now medics at Glasgow Royal’s Hospital for Sick Children say there’s nothing more they can do for the tot, pictured top.

But the youngster’s devastated parents Karen and Robert, pictured with Sarah and her brothers and sisters above right, are refusing to give up on their cherished daughter.

And the family, who have spent birthdays and Christmas at her hospital beside, are now appealing to Tele readers to help save their daughter’s life.

Robert, 43, of Balmore Road, Greenock, said: “From the very beginning the doctors told us it was going to be hard because they only see someone like Sarah once very five years in Europe.

“Sarah had 60 tumours, now she has 35 — we were only given a 10 per cent chance of the treatment working at the start.

“Now she’s been given months to live, but that was eight weeks ago and she’s still here.

“We believe that we are not going to lose her. I believe it is in God’s hands and he will either cure her himself or put us in touch with someone who can help her.

“We hope to see Sarah going to school, getting married and having children just the same as any other parent. We are looking on the positive side and are taking every day as it comes. We don’t listen to the doctors.”

The remarkable little girl is full of life, loves nothing more than playing with her brothers and sisters and has borne her illness with a smile.

Karen, 38, added: “Sarah’s been unbelievably brave and has never complained. She’s lost her hair four times and was upset at first but she’s never mentioned it since.

“She was overjoyed at the birth of her brother Daniel six months ago and having her brothers and sisters around keeps her going.”

The odds have tragically been stacked against the youngster since she was diagnosed in July 2007.

The disease crept up unaware on the family and it was at an advanced stage by the time it was diagnosed.

Karen said: “She was the wildest out of the whole lot of them and she was the healthiest baby and toddler.”

The family also wanted to thank Inverclyde Healing Rooms, family and friends, especially Vivien Boyle and Caroline McKechnie, for all of their support.
