FIFTY thousand people turned out to give the QE2 a magnificent send-off on her last visit to the Clyde.

The grand old lady basked in glorious sunshine as droves of admirers gave her a warm farewell yesterday.

The QE2 arrived shortly after noon, escorted by a flotilla of smaller craft.

She berthed at Greenock’s Ocean Terminal to a rapturous welcome as the crowds gathered.

The final farewell saw a brilliant fireworks display light up the night sky as people said a final goodbye to the famous Clyde-built cruise ship.

Today your Tele brings you six pages of news and photographs from a day that will live long in our memories, as well as a special 12-page QE2 souvenir pull-out.
