GREENOCK boxer John Simpson will make the next defence of his British featherweight title at Kelvin Hall on 6 June.
The venue has finally been decided and Simpson will meet highly promising South Queensferry pugilist Paul Appleby in Glasgow in front of a highly supportive home crowd.
Already, many local boxing fans are planning to make the short trip up the motorway from Inverclyde to cheer on their favourite.
Tickets are now on sale at four outlets in Inverclyde — Domanis fashion shop in West Blackhall Street, Monty’s Bar and Oscar’s in Port Glasgow, and Greenock Boxing Club. Unreserved tickets are £35 with ringside seats at £50.
Should Simpson win the fight, he will get to keep the Lonsdale Belt, the first boxer from Inverclyde to achieve the feat.
Last month John said: “He [Appleby] has 11 wins, he’s a good prospect.
“But I think I have too much experience, plus I’m improving all the time. I’m really going to shine in this fight, and if I win I keep the belt.”
The fight is scheduled to be broadcast live on Sky Sports.
John would like to thank Mitchells Hire Drive for their continued support.
