Top swims: Left to right are Laura Atkinson, Clare McGachy, Enrico Mazzoni and coach Gavin Williams.

THREE members of Inverclyde Amateur swimming Club took part in the City of Glasgow swimming competition at Tollcross swimming pool recently, and all recorded personal best times.

Laura Atkinson, 11, from Inverkip, Clare McGachy, 12, from Port Glasgow, and Enrico Mazzoni, 12, from Greenock all qualified for this event — an honour in itself as teams from all over Scotland took part.

Laura swam in the 100 metres breaststroke for girls 12-and-under, achieving a personal best time. Clare also swam in the 100 metres breaststroke and freestyle, hitting personal best times in both events, while Enrico swam in 12-and-under 100 metres breaststroke and freestyle, gaining personal best times in both events.

All three should be contgratulated, and their performances were a credit to the club.

Special thanks go to Gavin Williams, who gave up his own time to coach the swimmers on the day.
