OUT of contract Morton midfielder Kevin Finlayson has reached a stand-off, as his contract talks with the club stall.

Finlayson, 28, is the last member of the Ton squad to agree a new deal, following the extensions granted to defensive trio Stewart Greacen, Alex Walker and Ryan Harding.

He said: “I’ve had an offer from the club last week, but I’m still in negotiations. That was the first offer I’ve had, and I wasn’t happy with the terms.

“Of the players out of contract I’ve been offered the least, but I haven’t heard anything else from the club since.

“Davie [Irons] mentioned that it would likely be the final offer, so we haven’t come to an agreement yet.”

Pacey winger Finlayson has been at Cappielow for three seasons, and enjoyed a rich run of form towards the tail end of last term, scoring two cracking goals in the run-in which helped keep the Ton afloat in the First Division.

But now his future is in the balance, and he said: “I am out of contract now, so I can listen to offers from other clubs.

“I go on holiday next week, and I don’t think it will be sorted out before then, so hopefully when I come back Morton have a new deal on the table for me.

“I’m sure something will get sorted out, but it’s taking more time than we first thought.”
