Aberdeen bound: Thats Inverclyde's Nicky Low.

INVERCLYDE football starlet Nicky Low is making his way towards top-flight football, having just signed professional forms with SPL club Aberdeen.

16-year-old Nicky, of Larkfield Road, Gourock, has been turning out for the Pittodrie club’s youth teams for six years, having signed from East End United at the age of 10 when he was spotted at a soccer sevens event.

Left-midfielder Nicky has shown his commitment by tirelessly travelling up to Aberdeen from Gourock, but will now stay in the city as he attempts to make a name for himself with the club.

Now that he has signed a two-year deal as an apprentice, he will train every day in addition to mandatory schooling, and will ply his trade either in the Under-17s, or with the Under-19 team coached by Neil Cooper. His proud granddad, William Nicolson, said: “At first he struggled to settle in, but it was all worthwhile and now he looks to be going places.

“He was on the bench for the first team a few times last season, and if he sticks at it then hopefully it won’t be long before he makes an appearance.”
