UNDER PRESSURE: That’s Ton boss Davie Irons.

MORTON’S defeat at Ross County on Saturday means that they have completed the first quarter of the First Division campaign without a victory.

It is the longest period the Cappielow club have gone without a win in the league since the disastrous 2000-2001 season.

There were angry shouts from supporters who had made the long trip to Dingwall aimed at both players and manager Davie Irons after the team’s defeat.

The club are now rooted at the foot of the First Division table, four points behind second bottom Clyde and third bottom Airdrie.

Please let us play

GREENOCK boss Stevie Mooney is desperate for tomorrow’s match at Wishaw to go ahead. Successive call-offs in the past few weeks mean the last competitive action for his team was way back on 13 December. In a cruel twist of fate, young midfielder Jason McLaughlin looks like being out for several weeks.

Port Glasgow have no injury worries

WITH the winter freeze looking like loosening its grip, for the time being at least, Port Glasgow are set to return to action tomorrow. Recent postponements have thwarted the Port in their bid to maintain their three-game winning run. The frosty conditions also led to the cancellation of Monday night’s training session. But the squad finally met up at St Stephen’s High School on Wednesday to plan for tomorrow’s game against Kilsyth Rangers at Ravenscraig. There was good news for manager Craig Brown, with no injury worries to contend with ahead of the match.

Irons angry at critics of Dom

MORTON boss Davie Irons has come out forceably in support of his defender Dominic Shimmin after the tackle on Gary Arbuckle which broke the Queens player’s leg during Saturday’s Cappielow draw.

A daft overreaction to hard but fair Shimmin tackle

GARY Arbuckle’s leg break alters absolutely nothing regarding the tackle made by Ton centre back Dominic Shimmin during Saturday’s Cappielow encounter against Queen of the South.

Ton leave it late at Cappielow

MORTON boss Davie Irons felt that his men were well worth their point at a bitterly cold Cappielow on Saturday after being forced to fight back from two goals down.
