Peterhead 2 Morton 1

DAVIE Irons found Morton"s Homecoming Scottish Cup exit hard to stomach - after being sickened by a stunning goalkeeping show.

Peterhead"s Polish keeper Michel Kula paved the way for the Second Division side"s triumph with several excellent stops.

And Irons insisted it was as much that performance, as Peter Weatherson"s foolish sending off, that floored his men and left them with a long and miserable journey home.

Irons complained: 'Credit to Peterhead, they have won the tie - but I don"t think we deserved to lose. Although the sending off could be viewed as a turning point, we still could have won with 10-men. It was a real blow to go down to 10 men and something that should have been avoided.

'Their keeper was the difference. It"s disappointing to go out of the cup having dominated for so long.

'Now we just have to pick ourselves up and show character, because there is no time to feel sorry for ourselves with so many big games in store in the league.'
