The X Files: I Want To Believe(15)

Starring: David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson, Amanda Peet and Billy Connolly.

After a gap of ten years, Fox Mulder(Duchovny) and Dana Scully(Anderson) make a return to our screens for the second movie spin off of the cult TV series. The two lead actors have enjoyed somewhat mixed success in the interim period, its always seemed inevitable that for fans of the show, they will always be synonymous with the paranormal investigating FBI agents. It must be said that in many ways the first movie was disappointing in comparison to the terrific levels of entertainment consistently attained by one of the most popular shows of the 1990's, lets hope this sequel can bring back elements of the old magic.

The story centres around the mysterious disappearance of a group of women during the winter in Virginia. Detectives are baffled by this event and circumstances become even darker and more sinister when skeletal remains are found on a snowy highway near to where the women vanished. An eccentric priest named Father Crissman(Connolly) provides some rather dubious evidence in connection with the events in Virginia which eventually leads to Mulder and Scully being asked to participate in the investigation with their extensive experience in strange occurences. They are both reluctant to reopen the X files but decide that the nature of the case merits their involvement in trying to unravel the mystery.

As a fan of the original series, I am certainly greatly looking forward to seeing Mulder and Scully back in action and I definitely don't think I am alone in my enthusiasm for more of their intriguing exploits.
