Single sex classes for schools
SECONDARY schools in Inverclyde are experimenting with single sex classes in a bid to drive up boys’ exam results.
The pilot scheme is part of a wider effort to help bridge the gap with girls, who are outperforming them year in, year out.
Church shows wedding thrift
A CHURCH congregation laid on a £445 bargain budget wedding to show the world what love is all about. Reverend Drew Sheridan said: “I wanted to show you don’t need to spend £20,000 on a wedding. You can do it very cheaply and have an amazing day."

PARENTS have been urged to have their say on new plans for the future of secondary schooling in Port Glasgow. Inverclyde Council is currently consulting on a groundbreaking proposal which would see Port Glasgow and St Stephen’s High schools share a single campus.

NEW life has been breathed into a bid to rescue the work of a residential alcohol recovery centre in Greenock. A campaign was launched earlier this year to save Fewster House, after it emerged the Salvation Army-run centre would have to close.
