NEW evidence in Greenock's most infamous unsolved murder case will be broadcast in a dramatic TV re-enactment this week.

Critical details in the case of 16-year-old Elaine Doyle will be aired tomorrow in a bid to finally catch her killer.

Twenty years after her death, Elaine's family are still devastated by the loss and make an emotional plea in the programme.

Unsolved, which will be aired on STV and hosted by Taggart star Alex Norton, will highlight key evidence in the 1986 case including: • How Elaine's handbag was found on the steps of the Watt Library in Union Street.

• New DNA tests have been carried out to find the killer.

Neil Coyle, 42, walked along Ardgowan Street with his then fiancée Catherine on that fateful night, just a few hours before Elaine's body was found. A school pal of Elaine's brother John, Neil now wishes he had seen more that night. He said: `The lane where Elaine died was so close to her home. I hope the programme gets someone to come forward. Not knowing must be the worst of all - someone has done this and they're still out there.` After a night out with friends on 1 June, Elaine left her pals at a hamburger stall at Cathcart Square at the steps of the Mid Kirk Church. She was seen walking alone in Hamilton Way, now the Oak Mall, towards West Blackhall Street, Westburn Street and ultimately a lane off Ardgowan Street where she was found the next morning.

Unsolved airs at 7.30pm tomorrow.
