CHART-TOPPING songbird Amy McDonald will play an exclusive gig for an audience of Inverclyde young people.

The singing sensation is set to play live at Greenock Town Hall on Thursday 28 February.

Amy, who is currently number one in the UK album charts, will play a one-off concert to an exclusive audience of young people aged between 12 and 25.

The concert will see Amy, pictured right, perform a full set from her sold-out UK tour, including top chart hits Mr Rock & Roll and This is The Life. She will be supported by the winner of the Battle of the Bands competition taking place in the Gamble Halls on Friday 8 February.

The concert is only for people aged 12 to 25 years of age as it is part of a series of events being organised by the Inverclyde Youth Strategy Group.

Mark Molloy, from Inverclyde Council"s community education team, said: 'We are delighted to be bringing Amy to Greenock for this prestigious concert and are pleased she has chosen to come to Greenock as the last date on her sold-out UK tour.

'This concert will mark the end of a series of events being organised by the youth strategy and we are delighted to offer young people in Inverclyde the opportunity to come and see a top artist in action in their local area'.

Tickets for the concert are priced at �6 and a maximum of five tickets per person can be purchased - but proof of who will use the tickets will be required.

Tickets for the concert go on sale on Thursday from the Arts Guild Theatre box office on 723038 or you can purchase a ticket from the following venues: Gourock Library: Monday 28 January from 3.30 till 5pm; Youth Connections, Clyde Square, Greenock, Saturday, 2 February from 1 to 5pm; Greenock Central Library on Thursday 31 January from 4 to 6pm then at the same time every Thursday in February They are also on sale in Boglestone Community Centre, Port Glasgow, on Thursday 7 February from 6.30 to 8.30pm.

Tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis and organisers are advising people to get tickets early as the event is expected to sell out quickly.

The concert is being organised by Inverclyde Council community learning and development youth work team and the Speak Up Group on behalf of the Inverclyde Youth Strategy.

It is being supported by Youthlink Scotland.
