NEW bus stops in Greenock"s Fancy Farm will make life a lot easier for elderly passengers.
Local councillor Iain McKenzie lobbied for new stops after constituents complained about long walks carrying bags of shopping.
He said: 'The roads department visited Fancy Farm Road with a representative from Strathclyde Passenger Transport and have now positioned two new bus stops at the top of Fancy Farm Road and another two in the middle at the shops.
'I am delighted the new bus stops are in place and must thank and congratulate the roads officials and SPT for responding so quickly and positively.
'This is a very busy route. People were faced with walking about a mile in one direction or uphill for half a mile.
'Most bus drivers are flexible and stop when asked to do so, but others were sticking to the rule of stopping only at official bus stops, which, of course, it is their right to do.'
