WATERFRONT Junior Curling Club were thrilled to welcome Sarah McIntyre, triple gold medal winning junior curling champion, 2007-9, to be their special guest at their annual Presentation of Awards ceremony at the Waterfront Leisure Complex.

Sarah was also accompanied by Anna Sloan, her gold medal-winning teammate from their recent 2009 triumph in Vancouver, Canada. Anna also won gold as skip of Team GB at the European Youth Olympic Winter Festival in February of this year and was honoured to be chosen to carry the GB flag at the opening ceremony.

Also present was Lynne Robertson, National Curling Officer from the Royal Caledonian Curling Club HQ in Edinburgh.

The club were also pleased to welcome Joe Phillips and Andy McGilp, respectively chairman and secretary of Sport Inverclyde, both of whom have been instrumental in supporting the junior club on a financial and practical basis.

In such high profile company, the awestruck youngsters behaved impeccably and listened very attentively as Sarah and Anna answered all their questions about appearing in the World Championships and junior curling in general.

The final act of the evening was a surprise presentation made to Jim Stables, coming to the end of his final year as secretary of the club. He will remain a very proud member of the club for the foreseeable future.
