YOUNGSTERS got a lesson with a difference to gear up for the Gourock Highland Games.

Active Schools staff visited Moorfoot Primary, where youngsters enjoyed a taste of some traditional sports as they limbered up for the mini-games which the three primary schools in the town will compete in tomorrow.

The 56th Gourock Highland Games is being held in Gourock Park and offers a packed programme of entertainment featuring pipe band, heavyweight contests and Highland Dance competitions.

There is also a full range of children's activities, food, gift and craft stalls, a vintage car display and a free climbing wall.

This year's event has a royal flavour to reflect the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, with the Lord Lieutenant of Renfrewshire, Guy Clark, acting as chieftain of the games.
