A DEAD minke whale was washed up on the beach at Wemyss Bay today.
The body of the 10ft mammal was spotted in the water near to Undercliff Road.
Residents gathered to catch a glimpse of the whale which was marooned on rocks.
Minke whales are regular visitors to the west coast of Scotland but it is said to be unusual for them to wash up on the shore in this way.
The red swelling outside the young whale's mouth is it's tongue - experts say this swelling would have occurred as the dead mammal started to decompose.
