CHILDREN at Greenock's Blairmore Nursery got into the Christmas spirit as they were joined by their parents for a special festive play session.

The nursery invited parents in to join their kids in a range of Christmas-themed craft activities including making tree decorations, candle holders and glittery Christmas cards.

The event was designed to build further links between parents and nursery staff, as well as provide parents with a relaxing morning during what can be a stressful festive period.

Jacqui Jack, family support worker at Blairmore, said: "The Christmas lead-up can be especially stressful for parents, so we invited them in to have a relaxing play session with their kids.

"We opened up the whole room for a fun, sparkly-themed day and the kids have made lots of different decorations and cards.

"All the staff have enjoyed the session, too, and it helps to build relationships with parents."
