A TRIBUTE to music icon Bob Dylan is coming to Greenock courtesy of a local man with a passion for the American legend.

Musician and actor Robert Harrison will perform his much-talked about Bobby Does Dylan show at the Victorian Suite, Inverkip Street, on Friday 25 January.

Bobby has spent the past two years perfecting the voice and sound of Bob Dylan as well as a number of tracks from the legendary artist's back catalogue.

The Greenock man first launched his tribute act at the Tall Ships Race event in Greenock in 2011.

Since then, Bobby has played a number of shows around the country and was recently on stage at Greenock Town Hall and famous Glasgow venue Oran Mor in front of comedian Kevin Bridges.

Bobby said: "I did a show at Oran Mor and Kevin Bridges was there and he loved me because he is a massive Bob Dylan fan.

"He was amazed by my performance - it was incredible." The show later this month will also coincide with Burns Night, which Bobby said will be extra-special tribute to Dylan.

He said: "Bob Dylan is a massive fan of Rabbie Burns and I'm doing this show to represent Burns the poet and Dylan, who is a great poet himself.

"I think if Burns was around in the 1960s and 70s he would have been a star like Dylan.

"I'm going to try and master Love is Like a Red, Red Rose and do it in Bob Dylan sound and style because it's one of Dylan's favourite songs." Local solo musician Martin Jones will be the support act on the night.

Tickets for the show on Friday 25 are now available in person at the Victorian Suite, AdLib Music, Jamaica Street, Greenock, or by calling 07713 625757.
