A GREENOCK man has been charged with murdering schoolgirl Elaine Doyle in 1986.
John Docherty, 48, appeared at Greenock Sheriff Court this afternoon, charged with killing the 16-year-old, pictured, in June 1986.
He is also charged with theft.
Docherty, was detained by police at his home just before 6am on Friday.
He was arrested later that day.
Docherty appeared from custody today and made no plea.
The case has been continued.
