ST JOSEPH'S Primary kids staged a terrific talent contest as a total of 15 budding superstars put on a show to remember.

The event - organised by the school's pupil council - attracted a celebrity panel with their very own Simon Cowell dishing out harsh criticism.

After a hotly contested competition, it was P7 pupil Carly Clenaghan who triumphed with her dance performance.

Also blowing away the judges were Sian Macauley of P5, who came in second, and the P1 class who sang a very entertaining action song.

Loud jeering and thumbs down gestures came from the audience as Simon Cowell, played by P5 teacher Mark Deegan, dished out criticism to the contestants.

Joining 'Mr Cowell' on the panel were fellow teachers Andrew Hunter, who played Gary Barlow, Kelly-Anne Cook, who was Cheryl Cole, and Kathleen Smillie, who donned a blond wig to play Amanda Holden.

The exciting competition was compered by pupils Reece Cooke, Aidan Coll and Christopher Boyle and the finalists were looked after by fellow pupils Elle McCallum, Sean Renfrew and Jack Wallace.

The talent show is one of many fundraising activities which the school has organised as part of Lent ,with money being divided between various charities.
