A FURIOUS father left a 14-year girl with a bloodied nose in a swimming pool after a row with staff.

Gary Bradley, 27, lost the plot after being told to leave Gourock outdoor swimming pool, pictured, on Thursday night.

He was enraged because he was told to leave the diving area because of swimming lessons - just minutes after going into the pool with his children.

After arguing with staff, he kicked floats and water bottles into the shallow end and hit a teenage girl on the face and injured her nose.

The girl, who had been in the pool for lessons, was treated by a first aider at the scene.

Police were called and Bradley was arrested.

At Greenock Sheriff Court, Bradley pled guilty to culpably and recklessly kicking and pushing floats and water bottles into the swimming pool, striking a 14-year-old swimmer in the pool on the face to her injury.

He committed the offence after being bailed at court earlier that day.

Depute fiscal John Penman said: "He left the pool and kicked and shoved floats and water bottles into the edge at the shallow end.

"One of the items struck the 14-year-old in the face and she left the pool with her hands cupped over her nose into the changing room. She was treated by a first aider." Bradley, of Kylemore Terrace, Greenock, was represented by solicitor Ellen Macdonald, who said her client was 'extremely ashamed' of his behaviour.

She said: "He called ahead to make sure the diving area would be open when he and his children attended.

"He arrived and paid 10 for his family to go into the pool. His cousin and his children were there too - it was a family outing.

"He was asked to leave the area within 15 minutes and he remonstrated that he had called in advance.

"He kicked the floats on his way into the changing rooms - he was not aware he had caused any injury until he was arrested with his own children." Sheriff Derek Hamilton fined Bradley 200 and he was told to pay this up in instalments.
