A GREENOCK nursery has been given a glowing report card by government watchdogs.

Bluebird Family Centre received top marks following a visit by the Care Inspectorate.

Assessors gave ‘very good’ grades for the quality of environment, staff and management and leadership.

They also praised the quality of care and support provided by the nursery Staff are delighted at the accolade.

Head of Centre Gillian McDougall said: “We are very happy with our recent Care Inspectorate report.

“This is down to our children and parents, and the staff who work very hard all year round to provide the best service possible to meet the needs of individual families and the community.

“I would also like to thank our education services for their ongoing support to help us provide this specialised service.” The facility caters for children aged up to five and is based at St Joseph’s Primary School in Wren Road.

The Care Inspectorate report says: ‘Bluebird supports children and families to an excellent standard. The service has a very positive nurturing ethos and their priority is to engage with the whole family to make children’s lives better. Parents and children told us they were very happy.

‘Bluebird Family Centre is performing very well. The staff and management team are working hard and constantly striving to improve the experiences of families using the service.’ Education convener Councillor Terry Loughran today saluted everyone at the nursery.

He said: “I would like to congratulate all of the staff, parents and everyone involved at Bluebird for their hard work in creating such excellent standards at the centre.

“It reflects well on our commitment to education and providing high quality standards.”
