KETTLES were switched on across Inverclyde last week to raise money for cancer sufferers and their families.
Delicious homebaking and freshly brewed coffee filled the air of schools and community centres as part of Macmillan Cancer Support’s World’s Biggest Coffee morning event.
The Telegraph was invited to Blairmore nursery in Greenock where tots made their own cakes and sold them to help the charity.
Marie Crawford, head teacher at the nursery, said it was a record breaking event.
She said: “It went really well and we raised about £186 which is the most money we have ever raised.
“This is the third or fourth time we have held one.” Mrs Crawford was also impressed by the support shown by the parents who attended.
She said: “About 40 parents came along and a lot of them baked cakes and helped sell them.
“The children also really enjoyed it.
“We take part as everyone knows about the great work that Macmillan does.”
