STRAY animals in Inverclyde will continue to get first-class care thanks to a generous donation.

Dog trainers Best Paws Forward handed over £800 raised at a recent dog show to the Abbey Vet-run Beth’s Fund.

The Greenock-based trainers presented the cash to vet Neil McIntosh.

Best Paws Forward’s Valerie Keill said: “We wanted to donate cash to a local cause and this fund was ideal.” Abbey Vet chief Neil was on hand to receive the cheque.

He set up the fund to help stray animals found on the streets of Inverclyde.

It was set up after a stray dog Beth was discovered badly injured on a golf course and needed expensive treatment.

She was later rehomed and her new owners set up a fund to help other animals in need.

Neil added: “It is fantastic that Best Paws Forward are supporting us in this way.

“Their generous donation will help other stray animals and help the fund to continue.”
