THERE were celebrations at the double at Blairmore Nursery recently as the centre marked the end of term — and a top eco award — with a garden party.

The children have gained a coveted Green Flag from the Eco-Schools Scotland programme for their work on litter, biodiversity and recycling.

Delighted head Marie Crawford said: “This is a big honour for the nursery and not only were we celebrating the end of term but also this excellent achievement.” The programme is run by Keep Scotland Beautiful with funding from the Scottish Government and 98 per cent of schools and early learning centres throughout the country are involved with it.

Eco-Schools is the largest sustainable schools programme in the world and is operated internationally by the Foundation for Environment Education.

Marie said: “We are very proud to have gained the Green Flag status.

“It made the garden party extra special.”
