BUSINESS and finance students at Clydeview Academy were ‘sky-high’ after winning a trip to the Sky TV Skills Studio Academy in Livingston, above, to see how the news is made, prepared and shared.

During their visit, the group produced and filmed their own six-minute bulletin on waste disposal and recycling in the UK.

Budding reporter Ewan Fisher said: “I had loads of fun recording and editing our video. It was a great team-building experience.

“I loved using the green screen technology.” Bradley Shankster said: “I really enjoyed using the expensive film cameras and finding out about how Sky operates behind the scenes”.

Throughout the day, the class were divided into four teams who each worked in their own studio with a camera, auto-cue, editing facilities and ‘green-screen’ technology. A 70-minute deadline was then given to each reporting team to have their individual 90-second report filmed and ready for the final stages of editing into a full news bulletin item.

Each student got to take home a copy on a pen drive to watch and share with family and friends.

The pupils won the trip after taking part in a radio competition.
