A PACKED line-up of live entertainment over the next four night kicks off in Greenock this evening.

The official opening of West Stewart Street pub Cheers Bar and upstairs music venue Live @ The Loft starts tonight with the ‘Kowalski Klub’ sessions showcasing top talent from across Inverclyde and further afield.

Alloa singer songwriter Kieran Fisher is headlining the event, playing songs from his forthcoming EP ahead of his Scottish tour in the spring.

He supported ‘90s Britpop band Cast in his hometown at the end of last year.
Also taking to the stage tonight are new band Less Than Sober performing their mix of rock, pop and punk songs with their new band line-up featuring four musicians from Greenock alongside Saltcoats frontman and River City actor Kris McDowall.

Doors open at 9pm and it’s free entry.

Fridays sees the return of Greenock’s Bob Dylan tribute star Robert Harrison to his hometown with his acclaimed ‘Bobby Does Dylan’ show.

Then on Saturday it’s the official opening party starting with the ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll Circus’ jam session from 2-7pm followed by live music from high-flying Coatbridge singer Pete MacLeod with his first gig of 2016 following an action-packed 12 months which saw him support Manchester icons the Happy Mondays all over the UK.

Pete is signed to Oasis founder Alan McGee’s record label, and will be supported by Rab Allan, of Glasvegas, and Inverclyde’s own The Beat Movement and The Blue Lenas.

Scottish snooker stars John Higgins and Stephen Maguire will also be making a special appearance on the night.

Tickets are on sale now priced £7.

The weekend wraps up with Wemyss Bay singer Lauren O’Donoghue, who is one third of popular Inverclyde girl band The Claurettes, performing live in Cheers Bar from 3-6pm, free entry.

Greenock music promoter Barry McIlvogue, who is organising events at the venue, said: “It’s a busy weekend ahead.

“The Kowalski Klub new music sessions will be on every Thursday night and there will always be two bands/solo artists and a DJ.

“It is a platform for musicians to showcase original material.
