FIREFIGHTERS who rushed to a house blaze in Finch Road in Greenock have praised the occupant for raising the alarm early.
Crews attended at around 6.30pm last night after a kitchen fire broke out.
The Greenock station crew manager said: "A grill pan was on fire and we had to smother it with a wet dishcloth and remove it from the property and take it outside into the garden."
He said he had done the right thing by calling the fire service immediately to deal with the incident.
