A GO-GETTING Greenock man is preparing to push his body to the limit by taking on a gruelling 68 mile cycle in South Africa.

Sean Millar will fly out to Cape Town next month to take part in the Cape Town Cycle Tour – the world’s largest timed cycle race.

The 22-year-old, who only started training a few weeks ago, hopes to raise as much money as he can for Finding Your Feet, a charity set up by quadruple amputee Corinne Hutton to help those faced with life-changing physical trauma.

Sean, who is originally from Greenock but now lives in Gourock’s Cloch Road, told the Tele: “It’s pretty daunting as I only started training a few weeks ago.

“My mum thinks I’m mad.

“The tour is the world’s largest timed cycle race, with around 35,000 riders, and it covers a gruelling 109 kilometre route.

“The route passes over three brutal peaks.

“It will test my mental and physical toughness.

“I’m by no means an experienced cyclist, having only taken it up a few weeks ago, but I am determined to complete the challenge for this great cause.”

Sean, who works as a legal analyst, will take on the challenge alongside some of his colleagues from Ashurst in Glasgow.

He added: “As a team we have set an ambitious fundraising target of £1,000 each.

“Each day the charity carries out fantastic work for individuals who have suffered limb loss or life-changing physical trauma, providing emotional, physical and financial support.

“I feel very strongly about the work they do and could not be more excited at the prospect of raising funds for such a worthwhile cause.”

Sean, who lives with his mum Bridget, dad Brian and little sister Lara, 10, hopes Tele readers will get behind his appeal efforts.
