INVERCLYDE Council has given the green light to a district-wide £840,000 road improvement programme.
The project will see preventative measures taken to protect road surfaces and avoid the cost of future reconstruction.
Councillor Michael McCormick said: “Roads are a priority for the council and that is reflected in the £29 million worth of capital investment we have set aside to improve carriageways, footpaths, street lighting and structures.
“It is important that we spend every single pound carefully and this programme will go a long way to avoiding or delaying the costly and disruptive process of reconstruction and resurfacing.”
