A GOUROCK DJ and his former James Watt College classmate are raving about their latest gig supporting dance music superstars Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike.

Fitzyy & Simy, aka local man John Fitzpatrick and sidekick John Sims, are preparing for one of their biggest shows to date on the bill for the duo’s massive show in Edinburgh later this month.

Voted the number one DJs in the world, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike will play the Royal Highland Centre on Saturday April 30 — and the former James Watt College music production students can’t believe their luck to be on the bill with them.

Last year they supported other top acts at an event in The Arches in Glasgow.

Now they are preparing for another massive show warming the crowd up for Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, who have almost eight million followers on social media website Facebook.

Fitzyy, who lives in Trumpethill in Gourock, told the Tele: “This is a really big one for us.

“We’re bringing bigger and bigger crowds to gigs and have built up a big fanbase and promoters are noticing that.

“This is another great way to get our names out there and we can’t wait, we’re buzzing.”

The duo have also been confirmed to play Coloursfest at Braehead Arena in June — the second year in a row the high-flying duo have played the hot-ticket event.

Fitzyy, 21, said: “Paul Zitkus is the main person who’s been helping to get our name out there.

“He’s working for Coloursfest and put our names forward for it because he’s been impressed with us.

“I go to these events as a clubber and then realise I’ve got a set in 30 minutes, so getting to play at them is a bonus.”

It has been another rollercoaster few months for the pair as their stock in the dance and house scene continues to rise.

They were recently named among the top 25 Scottish DJs.

Buses will be running from Greenock to the event in Edinburgh.
