THE frontman for top Scottish rockers The View says he can’t wait to play in front of Inverclyde’s ‘brilliant crowd’ next week.

Kyle Falconer and his bandmates return to Greenock Town Hall on Friday April 22 as part of a UK tour to promote their critically-acclaimed new album, Ropewalk.

The indie favourites were last here 16 months ago when they performed to a sell-out crowd at the same venue.

The Dundee band are managed by Gourock man Adrian Hunter and have developed an affinity with the area thanks to previous shows here and their local links.

Looking ahead to the big gig, Kyle said: “It’s great down at the town hall.

“We had an amazing time when we last played there – even if I did end up a little drunk by the end of the night!

“We’re all from the east coast but we love the west coast crowd; they go nuts, especially when we play some of our old songs.

“The staff at the town hall were really good to us as well.”

Kyle has also played two solo shows at Gourock’s Cafe Continental and is a former flatmate and friend of Greenock actor Martin Compston.

The View’s last town hall gig was organised by former St Columba’s High pupil Martin in aid of Ardgowan Hospice.

This time round, Falconer hopes fans will enjoy hearing songs from the band’s new record, produced by Albert Hammond Jr of The Strokes.

But he’s assured fans that many of the old favourites will feature on the setlist.

He said: “If we’re in Greenock we know any of our songs with a chant will go down a storm.

“It’s going to be a brilliant night.”
