MCGILL’S local highlights bus tour is off and running for its second year.

The bus welcomed tourists from the first big cruise ship of the summer on MSC Splendida, offering them a local trip or a ClydeFlyer return ticket to Glasgow city centre.

The bus company’s marketing and communications manager Isabelle Murray said the local excursions showcase the natural beauty and rich history of Inverclyde.

She said: “This one hour, hop on, hop off tour takes passengers around some of Inverclyde’s top attractions, including Newark Castle, McLean Museum, Lyle Hill and Gourock Pierhead.

“It offers cruise ship passengers a first-class tour with live commentary on the historic Inverclyde buildings and scenery. Our visitors can relax and enjoy learning some fascinating facts about the local area.”

She added: “The first one was very busy, and we look forward to welcoming the upcoming ships, passengers and crews to Greenock. This is a particularly special year, too, as the Disney Magic cruise ship visits for the first time, calling in June.

“So look out for Mickey Mouse taking a stroll along the Esplanade this summer!”
