FIREFIGHTERS have been called to tackle a large blaze at derelict flats in the Broomhill area of Greenock.
The Drumfrochar Square flats were set alight this evening.
Flames could be seen shooting through the roof of the building and as crews tackled the blaze plumes of thick black smoke could be seen across town.
The tenements are empty having been earmarked for demolition by River Clyde Homes as part of a major revamp of the housing estate.
The 'Heid O’the Hill' flats have stood for over 40 years but are due to be bulldozed shortly.
