THE family and friends of a ‘miracle’ Greenock baby have raised money for the hospital which saved her life.

Little Niamh McAllister was only 2lbs 6ozs and the size of a hand palm when she was born two months early back in November.

But after spending eight weeks in the hospital, Niamh has defied all the odds and is back in the arms of her proud parents Laura McCafferty and her partner David McAllister.

Now her family, friends and generous local businesses have rallied round to raise over £1,000 for the neonatal unit at the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow where she was treated.

Laura said: “We organised a raffle on Niamh’s naming day on May 21 at the Factory Club in Gourock.

“It raised £1086 in aid of the neonatal unit at Royal Hospital for Children who looked after my little girl for eight weeks after she was born 10 and a half weeks prematurely back in November.

“We didn’t expect to raise so much money so we want to thank everyone for their support and all of the local businesses who donated prizes.”

Today, baby Niamh, who featured in the Tele last month, is thriving.
Laura added: “She’s doing great.

She now weighs 10 lbs and has come on leaps and bounds.”
