TENS of thousands of spectators descended on Greenock to watch the Powerboat P1 Grand Prix of the Sea UK Championships.
An estimated 30,000 people soaked up the action the Esplanade over Saturday and Sunday as superfast power boats whizzed through the waves.
Gloriously sunny weather created the perfect backdrop for the first action on the water on Saturday when more than 15 different races and other activities thrilled waiting crowds.
Lifelong local boating enthusiasts Dino Zavaroni and his friend Gordon Wicklow flew the flag for Inverclyde when they raced in the specially-branded 28ft P1 Panther boat worth £65,000.
Dreich weather failed to dampen the spirits on day two as crowds gathered to watch the powerboats cut through the waves at high speed while a helicopter captured the action from above. Families also enjoyed displays of water acrobatics by Hydroflight and Freestyle jet skis performers.
Inverclyde Provost Robert Moran presented triumphant brother and sister Sam and Daisy Coleman from the Pertemps Network team with the silverware after they won the P1 Scotland event.
The runners up were the Quantum-Racing team from Buckinghamshire while the E Marine Racing team from Bournemouth came third.
