THE annual flag-raising ceremony to mark Armed Forces Day was held in Greenock’s Clyde Square on Monday.
Provost Robert Moran paid tribute to past and present military men and women.
Last Saturday, Depute Provost, Councillor David Wilson, joined the Lord Lieutenant of Renfrewshire, Guy Clark, at a ceremony in Paisley Abbey along with troops, veterans and their families.
Wreaths were laid at Paisley war memorial followed by a short service in Paisley Abbey to commemorate 100 years since the Battle of the Somme.
Councillor Wilson said: “The events around Armed Forces Day give us a chance to show our appreciation for those who put themselves in harm’s way for us.”
