A FRIGHTFULLY funny school show left audiences in fits of laughter.

Creepy comedy classic The Addams Family was brought to life by polished performers from Port Glasgow High School.

They told the story of Gomez, Morticia, Wednesday, Pugsley, Fester, Grandma and ghoulish butler Lurch and their life in a mansion next to a cemetery.

Pupil Amy Bain, who played Morticia in the show, said: “It was a great feeling as that was the part I really wanted.

“The audiences were absolutely amazing as they laughed at all our jokes and gave us huge cheers.

“That gives us the encouragement to keep doing what we are doing.”

Amy, who has just finished sixth year, hopes to study acting at university or college.

Other stars of the show included Adam Docherty as Gomez, Robyn Quigg as uncle Fester, Connor Hair, who took on the role of Lurch, Abby Brown who played Pugsley and Sophie Brown who played Wednesday.

Drama teacher Tina Harper, who played the family granny, said the whole cast worked hard and deserved the plaudits they received.

Tina said: “People have remarked on how professional the production was for a school show.

“We started working on this back in October last year and the pupils have been 100 per cent committed.

“In the lead up to it they were rehearsing from before 9am in the morning until 10pm at night.”
