A WEATHER warning is in place as unsettled weather continues to affect Inverclyde today.

After last night's spectacular lightning show, more thunderstorms are possible before conditions start to ease later.

Fresh downpours began around 7.45am and the Met Office has issued a yellow rain warning which remains in force until 9pm tonight.

It warns of prolonged heavy rain and thundery conditions this morning and into the early afternoon.

Forecasters say it will become drier later in the afternoon but stay quite warm and humid, with temperatures hovering around the 18 degree mark.

By tonight the thick cloud and rain should be clearing away and it will be much cooler than last night.
