GOUROCK’S Amazon plant played a key role in the internet giant’s recent record-breaking ‘Prime Day’ – and had a party to celebrate.

General manager Gavin Morrison said it was a ‘fantastic success’ locally.

He said: “The team here are delighted to have played a part in helping it become Amazon’s biggest day ever. It was great to see everyone have a great time on another record-breaking day for Amazon.”

Prime Day was celebrated in Gourock with a number of fun activities, including doughnuts, special edition t-shirts, food and soft drinks, and a game of Play Your Cards Right to win some top prizes.

Amazon, which opened its Gourock site in 2005, announced that customer orders surpassed Prime Day 2015 by more than 60 per cent worldwide.

Top-selling items in the UK were Amazon devices – the Fire TV Stick, Fire tablet and Kindle Paperwhite.
