A GREENOCK beauty queen is set to fly the flag for Inverclyde and Scotland at a major European pageant.

Multi-talented Lauren Hair has earned a place at the finals of Miss European in October and will compete for the crown along with over 100 competitors from across the continent.

The 22-year-old model and dancer from Brougham Street will strut her stuff for Team Scotland after impressing judges at the qualifiers in Glasgow last Sunday.

But she won’t have to travel far for the grand finale – which takes place in a different country each year – as it’s being held in Folkestone, Kent.

Lauren, who reached the final of Sky One’s Got to Dance in 2011, will be up against competitors from France, Holland and Portugal as well as girls from the rest of the home nations.

Lauren told the Telegraph: “This is the first time I’ve entered this competition so it’s all new to me but it’s exciting.

“I’m delighted to be part of Team Scotland.”

Lauren, who also runs her own dance academy, came through a tough qualifying event in Glasgow where she took part in various rounds such as swimwear, Scottish dress and evening wear.

She has numerous crowns and awards under her belt already from representing Inverclyde and Scotland over the years.

But she says the most enjoyable aspect of taking part in beauty pageants is helping others.

Lauren said: “I really enjoy doing them and I’ve done lots in the past but I love the charity aspect of them, and going out and raising money for different causes.”
