PART of a busy road in Gourock has been left so damaged by rainwater during last night's storm that it has been closed.
A section of the surface at Chapel Street has broken up, meaning that traffic coming from the direction of Shore Street in Gourock town centre cannot go up Larkfield Road.
It is instead being diverted along to the far end of Manor Crescent at Cardwell Bay. The rest of the channelised junction is open as normal.
Council staff were called out to the scene overnight and blocked off the damaged section with cones.
Tele reader William Wilson also sent us a picture of an exposed drain at the junction of St John's Road and Shore Street, with its cover out of place.
Heavy rain during last night's thunderstorm has also swept debris onto several local routes.
